The To Elysia and Back Again Podcast
Do you ever feel like you're just not good enough?
I know that's a huge problem area in my life. I'm one of the world's biggest perfectionists, and I constantly fail at meeting my own standards--especially when it comes to being a good person. I suspect I'm not the only one out there who feels this way. All of us fail. All of us set up standards for ourselves that we don't meet. And I think most of us have never really thought about why we set the standards we set...or even who should be setting the standards.
I'm starting an absolutely enlightening six-week podcast series on the book, Galatians. This book is was what Martin Luther called "the cornerstone of Protestant Reformation,” and I think it actually could be the cornerstone for reformation in each of our hearts. When I first taught this series as a Bible study, it totally changed my life. Trust me, what we can learn about God in Galatians will totally blow you away!
This week, we'll begin with Galatians 1, and I'll explain some of the back-story of the Gauls (people who lived in Galatia), Paul, and the Judaizers who followed Paul around trying to discredit his ministry. (I know, I know. It sounds like boring academic stuff, but I promise I'll make it fun! Hey, it's me!) I'll also be delving into the whole concept of grace. I mean, we hear the word "grace" all the time, we know that it's supposed to be "amazing," but what is it really? I'll even be touching on just what makes Christianity different from the rest of the world's religions.
Oh, and I'll be linking it all to Batman Begins!
Well, not really, but I'll be using the story of Bruce Wayne as a great illustration. (See, I promised I'd make it fun!)
I hope this series will help each of you will gain deeper insight into:
- the nature of God
- the true meaning of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ
- the freedom we have as a result of our faith in Him
